Converted from a horse and cow stable, Case Vecchie’s kitchen is around 40 square meters. With four burners for cooking, stainless steel counters, a central marble work table and a large communal table for eating, the cucina is the heart of our villa.

Nested behind its thick original walls, the kitchen remains cool in summer heat and cozy in winter. Little windows allow you to peek into the courtyard, where chickens wander amidst scented kitchen herbs potted for everyday use.

The dishware for the table hangs on the wall, a collection of old Sicilian pottery collected by Anna and Fabrizia over the years or belonging to the family.

The site used to house a wood oven where over 20 kilos of bread were made for the whole farm. Now we make our pizzas in a 25-year old convection oven, the masterpiece of the kitchen. Anna used to say that the oven was the pillar of the school and the most expensive tool she ever bought.
